India vs South Africa


A three-match Test series between India and South Africa is scheduled to begin on 2 October.  The series will be played under the ICC Test Championship and the Indian team would like to retain their first place in the points table.  Due to domestic conditions, the Indian team will have heavy weight in this series.

India and South Africa have played 36 Test matches so far, in which India has won 11 Tests and South Africa in 15 Tests, while 10 Tests have been drawn.  Of these 36 matches, 20 matches have been played in South Africa, with the hosts winning 10 matches and India winning in just 3 matches and drawing 7 matches.  India has played 16 matches, with India winning 8 and South Africa winning 5 matches.  There are 3 matches drawn.

The first Test between India and South Africa was played in Durban from 13–17 November 1992 and the match was a draw.  The last test between the two teams was played in Johannesburg from 24 to 27 January 2018, with India winning by 63 runs, although South Africa won the three-match series 2–1.
