IND vs BAN: Mohammed Shami's sharp bowling named first day of Indore test

Thanks to the sharp bowling of Mohammed Shami, the Indian team has strengthened its position on the first day of the Indore Test.

After winning the toss, Bangladesh's team came out to bat first and were piled on for 150 runs in just 59th over.

In response, the Indian team, who came out to bat, scored 86 runs by the end of the first day's play.

Cheteshwar Pujara 43 and Mayank Agarwal are at the crease after scoring 37 runs.

Earlier, Mohammad Shami and other Indian bowlers broke the back of the Bangladeshi batting line-up while performing brilliantly.

Shami took three, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav and spinner R Ashwin took two wickets each.

For Bangladesh, wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim scored the most 43 runs.

Apart from him, captain Mominul Haque contributed 37, Linton Das 21 and Mohammad Mithun contributed 13 runs. No other Bangladeshi batsman reached the tens mark.

Most discussed is the ball on which Mohammed Shami bowled Mushfiqur Rahim. The ball fell outside the off stump and came in fast. Rahim tried to stop it but by then the middle stump had flown.

Right on the next ball, he trapped the legs of the new bowler Mehdi Hasan in front of the wickets.

The Indian team, which came into play in response, also lost their first wicket early. Rohit Sharma was caught by Lytan Das off the ball of Abu Zayed after scoring just six runs.

But after this Mayank Agarwal and Cheteshwar Pujara took over the innings.

The first match of the Test series between India and Bangladesh is being played in Indore. Virat Kohli, who did not play T20 matches, is back in the team for Test matches.

Earlier India had defeated the visiting team 2-1 in the T20 series. Rohit Sharma captained in the absence of Virat Kohli in T20 series.
