Reconsideration petitions dismissed on Rafale - Supreme Court

Reconsideration petitions dismissed on Rafale - Supreme Court

The Supreme Court has dismissed all the reconsideration petitions on Rafal.

Several reconsideration petitions were filed in the court regarding alleged corruption in the purchase of 36 Rafale fighter jets from France.

However, before this, the Supreme Court had rejected the talk of any kind of corruption in the Rafale deal.

In another case related to Rafale, the Supreme Court has accepted Rahul Gandhi's apology.

Rahul Gandhi used the slogan 'Chowkidar Chor Hai' during the election campaign, citing the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court has also stopped the investigation of the defamation complaint filed against Rahul Gandhi by BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi.

Meenakshi had filed a contempt case against Rahul Gandhi for the slogan 'Chowkidar Chor Hai'. In this case, Rahul Gandhi had apologized and the court expressed satisfaction over the apology and said that he should speak in future.

The court also said that the court cannot be dragged into rhetoric.

The Supreme Court said that investigation is not needed in the Rafale case. On May 10, the Supreme Court reserved its decision on reconsideration petitions. Among these petitions were former finance minister Yashwant Sinha, former commerce minister Arun Shourie and senior Supreme Court advocate Prashant Bhushan.

A bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, comprising Justices SK Kaul and KM Joseph, said that no investigation was needed in the case. The court said that these petitions have no merit.
