(UNNAO CASE: KULDEEP SENGAR)

The Tis Hazari court in Delhi on Monday convicted the expelled Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar in the Unnao case of Uttar Pradesh (Kuldeep Sengar) and the kidnapping case. Sessions Judge Dharmesh Singh, while convicting Sengar, said that the debate in the court for sentencing in this case would be held on 19 December. Sanger's lawyers, however, wanted an argument today for sentencing. The court acquitted another accused woman, Shashi Singh, in this case, giving benefit of doubt. Shashi Singh was accused of luring the victim to the legislator's house.

Sanger won from the Bangarmau assembly seat in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao district on a BJP ticket.

The case of misdemeanor and kidnapping case was going on in Tis Hazari court here.

Apart from this, Sanger is facing three cases in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) special court.

What is the matter

This is a case of 2017 in which a case of misconduct was registered against the victim with Sanger. The case was transferred to the CBI in 2018. The hearing of the case began on August 5 in Tis Hazari court, charges were framed against both the accused on August 9. The hearing lasted more than four months in this case. The court considered the misconduct victim as a minor.

Sanger was accused of raping the victim at her residence by promising her a job.

The victim was kidnapped and gang raped.

After the verdict of the court, Sanger, who was present there, wept bitterly.
The second accused Shashi Singh fainted after the verdict.

The case caught fire after the victim and her mother tried to commit self-immolation outside the residence of Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath in Lucknow. After this, the investigation of the Unnao scandal was shifted from Lucknow to Delhi by order of the Supreme Court.
