Country Citizenship Amendment Bill: Internet-SMS stopped in Meghalaya, curfew in Shillong

The fire of opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Bill has now reached Meghalaya. The government has banned mobile internet and SMS. Curfew has been imposed in view of the protests in the capital (Shillong). Let it be said that the maximum opposition to the citizenship bill is taking place in Assam and Tripura. Two people have died in the demonstrations there so far. Tripura The impact of the bandh is also being seen in the capital city of Agartala. Government offices and educational institutions have been closed.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Konrad Sangma postponed the scheduled meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. His cabinet colleagues could not reach Guwahati airport because of violent protests and curfew in Assam. Sources said that though Sangma had reached the LGB airport and left for the national capital.
