Police-center should work according to law: HC

Protest against women continues for a month

Protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act and National Register for Population have been going on in Shaheen Bagh, Delhi for the last one month.  Due to this demonstration, the road from Delhi to Noida is jammed and when the matter is heard in the Delhi High Court on this problem, the court has asked the administration to act according to the law.

The matter was heard on Tuesday in the Delhi High Court, in which the court has asked the Central Government and Delhi Police to look at the big picture and work for the common people.  However, the court in its order has not explicitly talked about ending the dharna on Shaheen Bagh.

When the matter was heard in the court, it was put forward by the Delhi government that it is not a party in this case and Delhi's law and order is not in their hands.  However, the High Court has asked the center-police to take action in it.

Neither the court has ordered to end the protest nor the road has been ordered to open immediately.

Now what is the option before Delhi Police?

Nearly two and a half million vehicles leave this road from Noida to Delhi, which have been facing problems for the past one month.  Now when the court has put the ball in the court of Delhi Police-Central Government to enforce law and order, there are few options left after administration.

The ongoing demonstration in Shaheen Bagh should be shifted to some other place.

 - Demonstrators should be removed by police action.

 - A representative of the government should go and discuss with the protesters, so that the protesters themselves can be removed.

Significantly, against the Citizenship Amendment Act implemented by the Central Government, a protest is being held at Shaheen Bagh from 15 December.  Thousands of women, students and other protesters are continuously here.  Here some leaders were also going to the protesters and addressing them there.
